Time flies no matter what you do.

Is it already August?  Almost time for me to go home, then…

I’m looking forwards to getting out of Salem for a while.  Not that it isn’t a lovely town (actually, it isn’t), but sometimes it’s nice to go home… swim some, hang out with my friends, chill in general.

Build a new computer.

That’s the part I’m looking forwards to most.

Well, that and seeing the significant other. <3!

On heat

It’s currently almost 85 degrees out, at9:30 in the morning.  Today’s high is over 100 – i think it’s 103.  Tomorrow, Google says I can look forwards to 106 degree heat – but hey, after that i’m going to get some respite, at least.  The temp is going to take a nosedive, and be down to mid-eighties by Friday, and kind of sit there, sullenly, for a couple days.

This week can’t end quickly enough.

I expect some heat, but this is ridiculous for Oregon.  The humidity is absurd, as well – I feel like I can’t get dry after showers, and that’s gross.

I’m really hoping California doesn’t decide to greet me with more of the same, because more of the same sucks.  I would also appreciate it if the temperature would drop to around 70 next weekend, when I’m packing all my things up and moving out of my apartment.  Xthxbye.

EDIT: It is worth also noting that the Oregon state government has put out an “excessive heat warning.”  Man, those government types sure have a way with words.  I’ve never seen a warning so… apt.

This week is going to be brutal

brutalBrutal, I say!

Read a book in one sitting day

Aaaaagh!  I forgot!  D:

Stupid, stupid, stupid…  that’s what I get for actually doing stuff on a weekend for once.

Flight

I’m flying home tonight!

I just want to get off work, already, so I can go home.

In the meantime, here I sit.

Exciting!

I can’t wait for it to be Thursday. There are still a few logistic kinks to be worked out, but going from work to the airport to home for a long weekend will be nice.  Plus – haircut!  Woo!  I am in dire need of one.  If you don’t believe me, I encourage you to look at this image:

And this is an older picture!  My hair is a good half an inch longer now.

See how I have a mullet?

Yeah, that needs to go.

Two things

1.  Japanese gluten-free cuisine.  It must be possible; good tamari is wheat-free anyways, and wheat-containing soy sauce + wheat noodles are really the only things in Japanese cuisine I know I can’t eat.  Hell, you can get GF panko even!  (Aren’t buckwheat noodles GF?  real buckwheat noodles should be edible…)

2.  Low-flow toilets.  Why the hell are none of the toilets at Willamette low-flow?  We waste so much water.  I really don’t need my urinals to use 5 gallons of water every time I flush.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Level Cap

I think I’ve figured out why so many people are emo.

It’s just so easy.

For example, I am going to have a moderately crummy weekend.  Temperatures in the 90s on a top-floor apartment, no screens on my windows.  I have a choice: death by bugs, or death by heatstroke?  I think I’d rather suffocate on the gnats.  Most of my friends will be gone for the weekend, and those who aren’t gone will still be busy doing the things that the 4th of July requires of them: getting drunk*, and so forth.  It would be easy to slide into hyperbole, and say that this is the worst weekend ever.  I’m all alone, it’s too hot, my hair is too long, nobody loves me.

Wait!  That last one is wrong.  Thank god for that; and even if this weekend is going to be a bummer, the weekend after is going to be great!

To all real life friends:  I’m going to be back in the bay area for a long weekend, July 9-12.  I’m flying in at about 11:00 PM on the 9th, and my flight out is on the 13th at 8 in the morning.  If you are not the significant other, you probably don’t know this, and thus: we must get together, if you too are in the area.  I’m going to be busy Friday night (already!) but beyond that my schedule for Friday, Sat, and Sunday is wide open.  I should probably spend some time with my parents, though.

I plan on spending the fourth of July logged into Warhammer Online on my Magus, sitting in the Inevitable City and setting fireworks off.  Shut up!

________
* I probably could indulge, but gluten-free beer is expensive, and I really don’t enjoy how alcohol makes me feel.  So that’s that.

Tomorrow’s challenge

Buy a week’s worth of groceries with $35.00.  This will be easier than you think! (hint: i already have 2-3 pounds of rice and enough chicken to have it for dinner every night for 4 days!)  The real problem is going to be lunch, though i have enough cornstarch to do something like biscuits every day for a week.

Break, Break!

I am incredibly excited for the end of classes tomorrow.

The part where I have to rush home and then out to the airport is going to be a little unfun, and so’s the part where I’m in the airport for hours, but the payoff is going to be worth it.  Home! for like ten days!  just in time to watch the BSG finale in HD, too.

Awesome.
